The OSG 5413108 is a cobalt square end mill designed for general-purpose milling in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built to Series 541 specifications, it features a 0.750 inch cutting diameter, a 1.625 inch length of cut, and a 4-flute spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle. The TiCN coating improves surface hardness and reduces friction at the cutting edge, extending tool life in abrasive or harder workpiece materials. Micrograin cobalt construction provides toughness and heat resistance that high-speed steel tools cannot match. This end mill is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry into the workpiece without a pre-drilled pilot hole. Machinists and tool room operators use this style of end mill for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations.
The 5413108 is suited for use on manual knee mills, CNC vertical machining centers, and knee-type milling machines where a standard 3/4 inch shank is accepted. The regular-length OAL of 3.875 inches keeps the tool rigid during full-depth cuts, reducing deflection and improving surface finish. The right-hand cut, right-hand spiral flute configuration is the standard setup for conventional milling operations. This tool is appropriate for job shops, production environments, and tool room applications where consistent dimensional control is required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or equivalent tool for standard 3/4 inch shank milling applications on vertical machining centers and manual mills accepting ER or straight-shank collet and end mill holder systems.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tool room personnel. Secure the shank fully into the end mill holder or collet chuck and torque the drawbar or set screw to the machine manufacturer's specification before spindle engagement. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in an e-stop or locked-out state before changing tooling. Do not exceed the rated speed and feed parameters for cobalt tooling in the material being cut, as overloading the flutes at the wrong chip load will cause premature edge wear or tool breakage.
