The OSG 5412108 is a 4-flute square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It carries a TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating that increases surface hardness and reduces friction at the cutting edge, extending tool life in abrasive materials. The 0.625-inch cutting diameter matches the 0.625-inch shank diameter for direct-fit tool holders, and the 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation. At 3.75 inches overall length with a 1.625-inch length of cut, this tool suits standard vertical and horizontal milling setups. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry without pre-drilling. Machinists, CNC programmers, and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users.
This end mill is built for side milling, slotting, profiling, and plunge cutting in typical shop and production environments. The regular-length geometry fits most standard milling machine and machining center spindles. The right-hand cutting direction is the conventional configuration for the majority of VMC and HMC setups. Series 541 from OSG is a widely recognized solid carbide end mill line used in job shops and production floor applications where consistent surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-application end mill for milling machines and machining centers accepting a 5/8-inch straight shank tool holder, collet, or end mill holder. Part of OSG Series 541.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator following standard tooling practices. The spindle must be at a full stop and locked before seating or removing any end mill. Verify tool holder bore diameter matches the 0.625-inch shank before clamping. Follow shop-standard torque procedures for set screws or collet nuts, and confirm tool runout with a dial indicator before cutting to protect both the workpiece and the tool.
