The OSG 5351000 is a cobalt square end mill designed for material removal in milling applications across ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention in demanding cutting conditions. The 7/16-inch cutting diameter pairs with a 1-3/4-inch length of cut, a 1/2-inch shank diameter, and a 3-3/4-inch overall length. The 45-degree helix spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. This end mill is centercutting, allowing plunge entry, and runs right-hand cut with right-hand flute direction. It is supplied uncoated and belongs to OSG Series 535.
This end mill is suited for general-purpose slot milling, profiling, and peripheral milling in machine shop and production environments. It is a long-length style, placing it in the 1.5-inch to 2.0-inch length-of-cut range class, which provides extended reach for deeper pockets and stepped features. Machinists and CNC operators working with steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials will find this tool appropriate for their setups. It is a single-end tool intended for use in conventional vertical and horizontal milling machines and CNC machining centers.
Designed as a replacement or production-use end mill for applications requiring a 7/16-inch diameter, 1/2-inch shank, long-length cobalt square end mill in OSG Series 535 tooling programs.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator using an appropriate collet, end mill holder, or set-screw holder sized for the 1/2-inch shank. Verify runout and tool projection before engaging the cut. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed and feed rate based on workpiece material and depth of cut. Never exceed the tool's rated length of cut in a single pass without confirming rigidity and deflection limits.
