The OSG 5310300 is a cobalt square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers elevated heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling, making it well-suited for harder workpiece materials. The cutter measures 0.25 inches in diameter with a 0.625-inch length of cut and a 0.375-inch shank diameter. The 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. With three flutes in a spiral configuration and a centercutting design, this end mill handles both plunge and peripheral milling. It is sold individually and intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in production and job shop settings.
The OSG 5310300 is a regular-length end mill suited for slotting, profiling, and side milling operations on ferrous metals, stainless steel, titanium, and other difficult-to-machine alloys. Its 2.4375-inch overall length provides good rigidity in standard milling setups. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are compatible with conventional vertical and horizontal milling machines as well as CNC machining centers. The uncoated finish makes it straightforward to resharpen, extending tool life in shops that regrind their tooling.
Designed as an OEM-style tooling solution for use in standard milling machine spindles and CNC machining centers accepting a 0.375-inch round shank. Part of the OSG Series 531 end mill line.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Secure the shank in a collet, end mill holder, or set-screw holder rated for the 0.375-inch shank diameter, ensuring adequate engagement length to prevent pullout under cutting loads. Inspect the holder and collet for runout before use, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and degrades surface finish. Always bring the spindle to a full stop before changing or measuring tooling.
