The OSG 5229900 is a double-end cobalt square end mill designed for milling ferrous and hard materials in machining centers and manual mills. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat and wear resistance in demanding cutting applications. The tool measures 0.6875 inches in diameter with a 1.3125-inch length of cut and a 5-inch overall length. Its 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining edge stability. The bright, uncoated finish makes it suitable for use with or without cutting fluids. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this end mill in standard collet or end mill holders.
The OSG 5229900 is suited for slot milling, peripheral milling, and profiling operations in job shop, production, and toolroom environments. Its double-end configuration provides two usable cutting ends, extending tool life before replacement is required. With a 3/4-inch shank diameter, it fits standard end mill holders and collet chucks used in vertical machining centers and knee mills. The Series 522 designation places it within OSG's cobalt general-purpose end mill family, appropriate for steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or direct-use cobalt square end mill for standard 3/4-inch shank end mill holders and collet systems used in vertical machining centers, knee mills, and similar machine tools.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following shop safety procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the end mill. Seat the shank fully in the holder and torque set screws or collet nuts to the tool holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, and confirm workpiece fixturing is secure before engaging the cutter.
