The OSG 5226600 is a double-end cobalt square end mill designed for milling, slotting, and peripheral cutting operations on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this tool delivers improved heat and wear resistance compared to standard M2 HSS, making it a reliable choice for harder materials and interrupted cuts. The 5226600 features a 21/64 inch (0.3281 inch) cutting diameter, a 9/16 inch length of cut, and a 30-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation during operation. With two flutes and a bright uncoated finish, it is well suited for general-purpose machining where lubrication is applied at the tool.
This end mill is appropriate for use in manual mills, knee mills, and CNC machining centers in job shop, maintenance, and production environments. The double-end design provides two usable cutting ends, extending tool life per unit. The 3/8 inch shank diameter fits standard collets and end mill holders commonly found in light to medium-duty milling setups. Its Series 522 designation places it within OSGs regular-length cobalt end mill line. Machinists and tool and die professionals working with alloy steels, tool steels, and cast iron will find this tool appropriate for finish and roughing passes within its diameter class.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or stock end mill for 3/8 inch collet and end mill holder setups in manual and CNC milling machines requiring a 21/64 inch square end mill.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom professional. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the drawbar or collet nut is properly torqued before beginning any operation. Seat the shank to the minimum recommended insertion depth in the holder to prevent tool pullout during cutting. Inspect the collet or holder for wear before use, as runout will accelerate tool wear and degrade surface finish.
