The OSG 5226400 is a double-end cobalt square end mill designed for milling flat surfaces, slots, and contours in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this tool delivers heat resistance and edge retention in demanding cutting conditions. The 17/64 inch (0.2656 inch) cutting diameter pairs with a 9/16 inch (0.5625 inch) length of cut and a 30-degree right-hand spiral helix. With two flutes and a bright uncoated finish, it is suited for operations where chip clearance and surface finish are priorities. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary users of this end mill.
The OSG 5226400 fits light-to-medium milling applications on knee mills, CNC machining centers, and toolroom mills. The double-end configuration extends tool life by providing two usable cutting ends before replacement is needed. The 3/8 inch shank diameter accommodates standard end mill holders and collet chucks common in shop setups. At 3-1/8 inches overall length, the tool suits standard reach requirements without the deflection risk associated with extended-reach configurations. This Series 522 end mill is appropriate for job shops, maintenance machining, and production runs where a reliable cobalt tool is specified.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling option for use in end mill holders and collet chucks accepting a 3/8 inch shank diameter on manual mills and CNC machining centers.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with rotating cutting tools. Ensure the end mill holder or collet chuck is clean and undamaged before seating the shank. Secure the tool to the manufacturer-recommended retention torque for the holder style in use. Inspect both cutting ends for chipping or wear before mounting, and never exceed the spindle speed and feed rate parameters appropriate for the material being cut.
