The OSG 5226000 is a double-end cobalt square end mill designed for milling ferrous and hard materials in machine shop and production environments. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat and wear resistance that outperforms standard M2 HSS in difficult cuts. The tool measures 9/64 inch (0.1406 inch) in diameter with a 7/16 inch (0.4375 inch) length of cut, a 3/8 inch shank diameter, and a 3-1/8 inch overall length. The 30-degree helix angle and right-hand spiral flutes promote efficient chip evacuation. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this tool in standard vertical mills, CNC machining centers, and knee mills.
This end mill is suited for slotting, peripheral milling, and plunge cutting in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous alloys. The double-end configuration provides two usable cutting ends, extending tool life between replacements. The bright, uncoated finish makes it straightforward to inspect for wear. With a regular length profile and a 3/8 inch shank, it fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders found in most shop setups. It is appropriate for both light production runs and general maintenance machining applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement end mill for use in standard 3/8 inch collet chucks and end mill holders on vertical mills and CNC machining centers. Part of the OSG Series 522 product line.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Secure the shank firmly in a matched collet or end mill holder to the appropriate draw-bar torque for your machine type. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, and select cutting parameters appropriate for cobalt HSS tooling in the workpiece material.
