Product Description

The OSG 521009312 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial and machining applications. It features a 3/32 inch (2.38 mm) diameter, a 140-degree split-point geometry, and a WXL coating for extended tool life and reduced heat buildup. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and collets. With a 2-flute right-hand spiral design and an overall length of approximately 2.76 inches (70 mm), this bit delivers accurate, repeatable holes in a compact jobber-length format. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed operations where chip evacuation and thermal management are critical.

This drill bit is built for ferrous metals, stainless steels, cast iron, and high-temp alloys, consistent with ISO material codes P, M, K, and S. It is suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machine tool setups in metal fabrication shops, aerospace component manufacturing, and precision tooling environments. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio makes it appropriate for moderate-depth holes without dedicated deep-hole tooling. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals will recognize this as a direct fit for general-purpose and production drilling within the 0.050 to 0.100 inch diameter range.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide construction for rigidity and wear resistance in hard-material drilling
  • WXL coating reduces friction and extends tool life in ferrous and exotic alloy applications
  • 140-degree point angle provides self-centering entry and minimizes walking on flat surfaces
  • Coolant-through design supports chip evacuation and thermal control in high-speed setups
  • Right-hand, 2-flute regular spiral flute geometry optimized for standard chip load and feed rates
  • Straight-cylindrical shank compatible with standard ER collets and drill chucks

Compatibility

Designed for use across ISO workpiece material groups P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), and S (high-temp alloys and titanium). Fits standard toolholders and collet systems accepting a 3.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Part of the OSG Series 5210 high-performance carbide drill line.

Installation Notes

Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the collet or chuck is torqued to the toolholder manufacturer's specification before running the spindle. Coolant-through setups should be verified for adequate pressure and flow before engaging the workpiece. Inspect the cutting edge and coating condition before each use — carbide tips are brittle and should not be used if chipping is observed.
