The OSG 5209500 is a 2-flute cobalt square end mill designed for milling operations in ferrous and high-temperature alloy materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention beyond standard HSS tooling. The cutter measures 13/32 inches (0.4063 inches) in diameter with a 13/16 inches (0.8125 inches) length of cut, a 3/8 inches shank diameter, and a 2-1/2 inches overall length. The 30-degree right-hand spiral helix promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces chatter during cuts. Centercutting geometry allows plunge entry. Machining professionals and toolroom operators use this end mill in manual and CNC milling applications.
This end mill is suited for general-purpose slotting, profiling, and plunge milling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials. The bright/uncoated finish makes it a straightforward choice when post-grinding regrind services are anticipated, or when cutting fluids are applied directly. Its regular-length classification fits standard toolholders and collet chucks used in vertical and horizontal milling machines. Part of the OSG Series 520 lineup, the 5209500 targets production and maintenance environments where cobalt tooling is preferred over carbide for its toughness and regrindability.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use tooling for standard 3/8 inches straight shank collets and end mill holders used in CNC and manual milling machines.
Installation of end mills should be performed by qualified machinists following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and machine power is locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended grip depth and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect cutting edges for chips or damage before each use and do not exceed the rated speed and feed for the workpiece material.
