The OSG 5209300 is a cobalt square end mill designed for milling operations requiring durability and heat resistance beyond standard high-speed steel tooling. Built to Series 520 specifications, it features a 9/32 inch (0.2813 inch) cutting diameter, a 9/16 inch (0.5625 inch) length of cut, and a 30-degree helix angle with right-hand spiral flutes. The M42 cobalt material grade makes this end mill well suited for cutting harder ferrous materials and applications where tool life is a priority. It is a single-end, center-cutting tool with a bright, uncoated finish. Machinists and toolroom professionals install this type of tooling in vertical mills, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills.
This end mill is appropriate for general-purpose slot milling, peripheral milling, and profiling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where cobalt tooling is specified. The regular-length geometry and 3/8 inch shank diameter make it compatible with standard collets and end mill holders commonly found in job shop and production environments. The 2-flute configuration provides improved chip evacuation, making it a practical choice for slotting cuts and applications in softer or gummy materials where flute clearance matters.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use cobalt square end mill for standard 3/8 inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and milling arbors used in CNC and manual machining applications.
This end mill is installed by machinists using standard end mill holders or collet systems; ensure the shank is fully seated and the holder is torqued per the tool holder manufacturer specification. Always power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation to maximize tool life and surface finish quality. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the material being machined and follow shop safety practices when handling sharp-edged tooling.
