The OSG 5206200 is a two-flute, cobalt square end mill designed for milling ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials in metalworking and machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers better heat resistance and edge retention compared to standard HSS tooling. The cutter measures 1.5 inches in diameter with a 1.625-inch length of cut, a 1.25-inch shank diameter, and a 4.125-inch overall length. A 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and stable cutting action. Center-cutting geometry allows the tool to plunge directly into the workpiece. This end mill ships uncoated and is appropriate for machinists and tool-and-die professionals running manual or CNC milling equipment.
The 5206200 belongs to OSG Series 520 and is suited for regular-length milling operations on machining centers and knee mills. Its right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration is the standard setup for conventional milling machines. The tool is well-matched to slotting, profiling, and pocketing operations in cobalt-grade applications where tool life under heat is a priority. It does not feature extended reach, chipbreakers, variable helix, or variable index — a straightforward geometry for general-purpose milling tasks.
Designed as a regular-length OEM-style cobalt square end mill suitable for standard milling machine spindles accepting a 1.25-inch shank diameter. Length of cut range for this series is 1.5 to 2.0 inches.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the power supply locked out before changing tooling. Secure the shank in a collet or end mill holder to the manufacturer-specified drawbar torque for the machine in use. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, and confirm coolant flow is appropriate for the workpiece material before engaging the tool.
