The OSG 5200205 is a cobalt square end mill designed for general-purpose milling of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it offers improved heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. The cutting diameter is 0.1875 inches (3/16 inch), with a 0.4375-inch (7/16 inch) length of cut and a 0.375-inch (3/8 inch) shank diameter. A titanium nitride (TiN) coating is applied to the flute and cutting surfaces to extend tool life and reduce friction. This is a centercutting design, allowing direct plunge entry into the workpiece. The 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation in a variety of milling operations. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary end users.
The 5200205 is suited for face milling, slotting, peripheral milling, and plunge operations on steel, alloy steel, and similar materials. The two-flute geometry provides larger chip clearance, making it well-suited for cutting softer metals and materials where chip packing is a concern. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration is standard for use in conventional CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. Overall length is 2-5/16 inches, placing this tool in the regular-length category. It is part of the OSG Series 520 cobalt end mill line.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling option for CNC machining centers and manual mills requiring a 3/8-inch shank, 3/16-inch diameter square end mill. Part of the OSG Series 520 cobalt end mill line.
Install in a compatible collet, end mill holder, or set-screw holder sized for a 3/8-inch shank. Confirm runout on the tool holder before operation, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear. Follow your machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when changing tooling. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing end mills.
