The OSG 519033817 is a solid carbide spotting drill designed to create precise starting points for follow-on drilling operations. Built to Series 5190 standards, it features a 140-degree drill point angle that reduces thrust and improves center accuracy on a wide range of workpiece materials. The cutting diameter measures 0.375 inches (3/8 inch), with a matching 0.375-inch straight-cylindrical shank for consistent runout in standard drill chucks and collet holders. The EgiAs coating provides surface protection and extended tool life under general-purpose machining conditions. This is a single-ended, right-hand cut tool intended for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills where accurate hole location is required.
This spotting drill is suited for general-purpose spotting applications in metalworking environments including job shops, production machining, and maintenance repair operations. The 140-degree point angle makes it appropriate for use ahead of twist drills, carbide drills, and insert drills where a shallow, accurate seat is needed. The spiral flute geometry and 25-degree helix angle support chip evacuation during the spotting pass. Machinists and CNC operators working in steel, aluminum, and similar machinable alloys will find this tool applicable to standard production workflows.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement spotting drill for use in CNC machining centers and drill presses accepting a 3/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank; part of the OSG Series 5190 spotting drill line.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the shank fully within the collet or drill chuck to the manufacturer-recommended engagement depth before tightening. Verify spindle runout with an indicator before beginning production to protect the carbide tool from lateral loading. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or adjusting tooling per standard shop safety practice.
