The OSG 496-1003 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in metalworking applications. It features a 1-inch cutting diameter, a 1.5-inch length of cut, and a 0.03-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the base of a cut and extends tool life. With 4 flutes, a right-hand spiral flute geometry, and a 30-degree helix angle, the tool balances chip evacuation with surface finish quality. The single-end, center-cutting design allows plunge entry and suits both roughing and finishing passes. It fits a standard straight-cylindrical 1-inch shank and is used in CNC machining centers and manual mills across production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is built for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and hard materials. Its uncoated bright finish makes it a versatile choice when a coating is not required or when the operator prefers to apply a specific surface treatment. This tool is installed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. The machine spindle must be at a full stop and locked out before installing or removing the end mill from the toolholder. Verify toolholder runout and clamping torque per the toolholder manufacturer specifications before engaging the cut. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rate for the workpiece material, as solid carbide is rigid but brittle under shock loading.
