The OSG 4920900 is a single-end, square-profile end mill designed for metal removal in milling operations on machining centers and manual mills. Built from cobalt high-speed steel, it offers improved heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling, making it well suited for harder workpiece materials and higher-feed applications. The cutter runs an 8-flute configuration with a 30-degree helix angle, a right-hand cut, and right-hand flute orientation. It is supplied uncoated. At 2 inches in diameter with a 4-inch length of cut and a 2-inch shank, this is a large-diameter tool intended for heavy stock removal or finish passes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
The 4920900 is appropriate for production and job-shop environments where large-diameter milling of steel, stainless, cast iron, or similar materials is required. The 8-flute geometry increases the number of cutting edges in contact with the workpiece, supporting higher feed rates at moderate depths of cut. The coarse pitch classification and regular-length designation make this a practical choice for general-purpose facing, slotting, and peripheral milling where rigidity and tool life are priorities. Installation and use require a machine spindle capable of accepting a 2-inch straight shank and sufficient spindle torque for large-diameter cobalt tooling.
Designed as a general-purpose large-diameter square end mill for use in machining centers and manual knee mills equipped with a 2-inch straight-shank tool holder. Confirm spindle taper, holder bore, and machine torque capacity before use.
Installation of large-diameter end mills should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. The machine spindle must be fully powered down and locked out before mounting or removing the cutter. Use a properly sized end mill holder or collet chuck rated for a 2-inch shank, and torque the retention fastener to the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, as excessive runout on an 8-flute, large-diameter tool accelerates uneven wear.
