The OSG 492-0200 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-precision milling in tight tolerances. With a 0.02-inch (0.50 mm) cutting diameter and a 1/16-inch length of cut, this tool is purpose-built for micro-machining applications where dimensional accuracy is critical. The 2-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation in small-feature work. Micrograin carbide construction delivers the rigidity and edge retention needed for hard materials and fine detail cuts. This tool is sold individually and is commonly installed by machinists and CNC programmers working on precision components.
The 492-0200 is suited for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where small-diameter tooling is required. Its centercutting capability allows plunge entry, expanding its range of applicable operations to include slotting, profiling, and pocketing in miniature features. The 1/8-inch shank diameter is a standard size for small-diameter collet systems. Typical applications include mold and die work, medical device components, electronics fixtures, and other precision part production requiring sub-millimeter cutting diameters.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide square end mill for CNC and manual milling applications requiring a 1/8-inch shank and 0.02-inch cutting diameter within the OSG Series 492 product line.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Secure the 1/8-inch shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder and verify runout before engaging the workpiece. Micro-diameter carbide tooling is brittle — avoid excessive overhang and confirm feed and speed parameters are appropriate for the material before cutting.
