The OSG 4910700 is a single-end, 5-flute square end mill designed for general-purpose milling in a wide range of metals and alloys. Manufactured from cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers improved heat and wear resistance compared to standard M2 HSS tooling. The cutter measures 1 inch in diameter with a 3 inch length of cut, a 1 inch shank diameter, and a 5-1/2 inch overall length. The 30-degree helix angle and coarse pitch flute geometry promote efficient chip evacuation and reduce cutting forces during slotting, peripheral milling, and profiling operations.
This end mill is suited for use in manual knee mills, CNC machining centers, and horizontal milling setups where a full-inch diameter cutter is required. The uncoated cobalt construction makes it a practical choice for regrinding after wear, extending tool life across production and maintenance shop environments. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional milling machine spindles. It fits applications in job shops, maintenance facilities, and production floors working with steel, stainless, cast iron, and non-ferrous materials.
Designed as a standard 1 inch shank square end mill compatible with ER and CAT toolholders, collet chucks, and end mill holders sized for a 1 inch straight shank.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per applicable machine safety procedures. Ensure the toolholder and collet are clean and free of chips before seating the shank to the full depth recommended by the holder manufacturer. Verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing cuts, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and reduces surface finish quality. Cutting speeds and feeds should be selected based on workpiece material, machine rigidity, and depth of cut using standard machining data references.
