The OSG 4901500 is a 4-flute cobalt square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. With a 3/4 inch cutting diameter, 3 inch length of cut, and 5-1/4 inch overall length, this single-end tool delivers solid material removal in standard machining environments. The 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The uncoated cobalt construction offers strong heat resistance and edge retention, making it a dependable choice for shops running steel, stainless, and similar alloys. Machinists and tool-and-die tradespeople reach for this mill when a reliable, uncoated cobalt option is needed for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling.
The OSG 4901500 is suited for vertical and horizontal machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines. Its 3/4 inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks and end mill holders commonly found in job shops and production environments. The long-series geometry provides added reach for deeper pockets and stepped features where a standard-length end mill falls short. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are the conventional configuration for climb and conventional milling on CNC and manual equipment alike.
Designed as an OEM-style tooling option for 3/4 inch end mill holders, ER collet chucks, and milling arbors accepting a 3/4 inch shank. Part of the OSG Series 490 cobalt end mill line.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Secure the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the holder and confirm runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Follow machine manufacturer torque specifications for set screws or collet nuts — do not overtighten, as this can cause shank damage or affect runout.
