The OSG 484-5000-BN11 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for material removal in both roughing and finishing operations. It features a 0.5-inch mill diameter with a 0.25-inch nose radius, 4 helical flutes, and a 30-degree helix angle. The cutting edge runs 3 inches in length of cut, with a 6-inch overall length and a 0.5-inch straight-cylindrical shank. A TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) PVD coating improves heat resistance and tool life in demanding cutting environments. The micrograin carbide substrate supports precision tolerancing across production runs. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install and run this tooling in standard machining centers and milling machines.
This end mill is rated for secondary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and hard materials. The extra-long length type makes it suited for deep-cavity milling, contour work, and die-mold applications where standard-length tools cannot reach. Single-end configuration and right-hand cutting and flute direction are standard. The 484BN series from OSG targets shops that require consistent tolerancing at a practical price point without stepping down in carbide quality.

Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Confirm spindle RPM, feed rate, and depth of cut are within the toolholder and machine specifications before running. Ensure the shank is fully seated and properly torqued in the collet or end mill holder per the toolholder manufacturer guidelines. Inspect the cutting edges for damage before each use; do not run chipped or worn carbide tooling.
