The OSG 484-4375 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Part of OSG's Series 484, it features a 7/16 inch (0.4375 inch) cutting diameter, a 3 inch length of cut, and a 6 inch overall length, placing it in the extra long category for extended reach applications. The 4-flute, spiral design with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and surface finish quality. Micrograin carbide construction delivers the rigidity and wear resistance required for demanding machining environments. This uncoated end mill is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers in production and toolroom settings.
The 484-4375 is suited for profiling, slotting, and contouring operations where additional reach beyond standard length tooling is needed. The extra long 6 inch overall length with a 3 inch length of cut allows access to deep cavities, tall workpieces, and fixture-challenged setups that standard or long series end mills cannot reach. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration match conventional milling spindle rotation. The centercutting geometry enables plunge entry directly into the workpiece without pre-drilling.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct application tool for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 7/16 inch straight shank. Series 484 extra long square end mills are a direct-fit option for spindles and collet systems sized for 7/16 inch shank tooling.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or removing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or end mill holder to the recommended engagement depth before tightening to prevent runout. Extra long end mills are more susceptible to deflection at depth — reduce feed rates and depth of cut as needed to maintain dimensional accuracy and prevent tool breakage.
