The OSG 484-3753 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. Built on OSG's Series 484 platform, this tool features a 3/8-inch cutting diameter and a 3-inch length of cut, making it well-suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in moderate-depth applications. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the hardness and edge retention needed for consistent performance in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. With a 30-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry, this end mill promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting. It is installed and used by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC programmers in production and job-shop settings.
This end mill is suited for use on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where a 3/8-inch shank is the required interface. The 6-inch overall length provides extended reach for deeper setups while the centercutting design allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional spindle rotation. The uncoated finish makes it a cost-effective option for general-purpose milling or for applications where coating is not required or preferred.
Designed for use in any machine tool spindle accepting a 3/8-inch straight shank end mill, including CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and compatible toolholders such as collet chucks and end mill holders sized for 3/8-inch shanks.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in a safe state. Secure the shank to the recommended insertion depth in the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating cuts, as excessive runout accelerates tool wear and reduces surface finish quality. This tool should be handled by qualified machinists familiar with speeds, feeds, and depth-of-cut parameters appropriate for carbide end mills.
