The OSG 484-3127 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for precision milling in metal and hard material applications. Built on the OSG Series 484 platform, this tool features a 5/16 inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/2 inch length of cut, and a 6 inch overall length. The four-flute, spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. Micrograin carbide construction provides the hardness and edge retention needed for demanding cuts in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The uncoated finish makes it suitable for applications where coating is not required or where regrinding is anticipated.
This end mill is used in vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations. The centercutting design allows for plunge entry directly into the workpiece, adding flexibility to the toolpath. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional spindle configurations. The 5/16 inch shank diameter matches the cutting diameter, making it compatible with standard collet chucks and end mill holders of that bore size. Typical users include machinists, tool and die makers, and job shop operators.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide square end mill for standard 5/16 inch collet chucks and end mill holders used in CNC and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following safe toolholding practices. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended engagement depth and torque the retention hardware per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut to minimize tool deflection and premature wear.
