The OSG 484-3125 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. It features a 5/16-inch cutting diameter, a 1-5/8-inch length of cut, and a 4-inch overall length, placing it in the extra long category for extended reach in deep-pocket and slotting work. The four-flute spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Manufactured from micrograin solid carbide, this uncoated end mill delivers the rigidity and edge retention required for demanding cuts in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It is center-cutting, allowing direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole.
This end mill is suited for general-purpose milling tasks including profiling, slotting, and contouring on CNC machining centers and manual mills. The extra long overall length makes it especially useful when clearance between the spindle and workpiece is limited or when machining deep features. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the standard orientation for conventional spindle setups. It is appropriate for job shops, tool rooms, and production environments where consistent dimensional accuracy is required across a variety of workpiece materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide square end mill in standard 5/16-inch collets and end mill holders on CNC and manual milling machines. Part of the OSG Series 484 extra long end mill line.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Secure the shank fully within the collet or end mill holder to the recommended engagement depth per the holder manufacturer guidelines. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut to protect both the tool and the workpiece.
