The OSG 484-1875-BN is a solid micrograin carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations across a wide range of materials. It features a 0.1875 inch (3/16 inch) mill diameter, a 1.125 inch reach length, and a 4-flute helical configuration with a 30-degree helix angle. The extra long overall length of 3.0 inches makes it well suited for deep-cavity and contoured-surface work where standard-length tools cannot reach. The bright uncoated finish on this single-end, right-hand cut tool supports both roughing and finishing passes. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production environments are the primary users.
This ball end mill is rated for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and hard materials, covering ISO material codes P, M, K, N, and H. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.1875 inches in diameter, compatible with standard collet and end mill holder setups. Its extra long length type gives operators clearance for deep-pocket milling, rib machining, and 3D contouring where shorter tools would make contact with workpiece walls. The Series 484BN designation identifies it within the OSG catalog for easy cross-reference and reordering.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with standard collet systems or end mill holders accepting a 0.1875 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and hard materials per ISO material codes P, M, K, N, and H.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per applicable shop safety procedures. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque to the holder manufacturer's specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout will accelerate wear on a tool of this diameter. Cutting parameters including feed rate, depth of cut, and spindle speed should be selected from the OSG Series 484BN application data for the specific workpiece material.
