The OSG 484-100011 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. With a 1-inch cutting diameter, a 3-inch length of cut, and a 6-inch overall length, this extra-long tool reaches deep pockets and extended-reach workpieces that standard-length end mills cannot access. The TiAlN coating improves heat resistance and wear performance at elevated cutting speeds. The micrograin carbide substrate provides toughness and edge retention in demanding materials. Four spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and tooling technicians in CNC and manual milling environments.
The OSG 484-100011 suits production and job-shop milling of ferrous and non-ferrous metals where extra reach is required. Its centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral and slot milling. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC machining centers. Single-end design means one cutting end with a 1-inch straight shank for direct mounting in collet chucks, end mill holders, or shrink-fit toolholders. It fits applications requiring extended reach into deep cavities, tall workpiece features, or stacked fixturing setups.
Designed for use in standard CNC and manual milling machines accepting a 1-inch straight shank; compatible with collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholding systems designed for 1-inch shank diameters. Part of the OSG Series 484 extra-long solid carbide end mill family.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Ensure the shank seating depth meets the toolholder manufacturer minimum engagement requirement for a 1-inch shank. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping before initiating cuts. Proper coolant or air blast application is recommended to manage heat at the cutting zone, particularly given the TiAlN coating and extended reach geometry.
