The OSG 464-437511 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling operations in metal cutting, die work, and general machining applications. It features a 7/16-inch diameter with a 2-inch length of cut and a 4-inch overall length. The four-flute spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. A TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) coating improves heat resistance and tool life at elevated cutting speeds. Micrograin carbide construction provides hardness and edge retention well beyond standard high-speed steel tooling. This end mill is centercutting, allowing plunge entry into workpieces without a pre-drilled hole.
This end mill is suited for machining ferrous and non-ferrous metals including alloy steels, stainless steels, and cast iron. The long series designation provides extended reach into deep pockets, slots, and stepped features where standard-length tools cannot access. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation follows conventional milling machine spindle direction. It is appropriate for CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual mills where solid carbide tooling is specified. Machinists, tool and die makers, and CNC operators working in job shops, mold shops, or production environments are the primary users of this tool.
Designed as a standard shank solid carbide square end mill compatible with 7/16-inch collets, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per applicable machine guarding and OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the toolholder bore and collet are clean and free of chips or runout before securing the shank. Verify shank seating depth meets the toolholder manufacturer minimum engagement specification. Carbide end mills are brittle — avoid dropping or contacting hard surfaces during handling, as edge chipping can result.
