The OSG 464-1250-BN is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling across a wide range of materials. Part of the OSG 464BN series, this single-end tool features a 0.125 inch mill diameter, a 4-flute spiral configuration, and a 30-degree medium helix angle. The micrograin carbide construction delivers consistent tolerancing for both roughing and finishing operations. With a 0.0625 inch nose radius and a bright uncoated finish, this end mill suits applications where coating buildup or contamination is a concern. It is sold as a single-end tool with a straight-cylindrical shank, ready for direct installation into standard collet or end mill holders.
This end mill is suited for milling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and hard materials. The long-series design provides additional reach for deeper cavity work while maintaining rigidity at small diameters. Typical applications include die and mold work, profile milling, and contour finishing passes in CNC machining centers and manual mills. The 4-flute layout supports both material removal and surface finish quality in a single tool, reducing the need for separate roughing and finishing cutters in many setups.
Rated for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and hard materials per OSG secondary workpiece material classifications P, M, K, N, and H. Fits standard 1/8 inch collets and end mill holders with a straight-cylindrical shank interface.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended grip length before tightening to prevent pull-out during cutting. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after installation, especially when working at this diameter, as small runout values have a proportionally larger effect on tool life and surface finish.
