The OSG 464-1000 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-accuracy milling in demanding metal-cutting applications. With a 1 inch mill diameter, 4 flutes, and a 30-degree helix angle, it delivers smooth chip evacuation and consistent surface finishes on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The micrograin carbide substrate provides wear resistance and edge retention across extended tool life. At 5 inches overall length with a 2.25 inch length of cut, this is a long-length configuration suited for reaching into deep pockets or features that standard-length tools cannot access. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in job shop and production environments are the primary users.
This end mill fits CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and manual knee mills equipped with a 1 inch collet, end mill holder, or matching shank toolholder. The long-length geometry makes it well suited for deep-pocket milling, slotting, and profiling passes where clearance is limited. The centercutting design allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled starting hole, adding flexibility to the tool path. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration matches the standard spindle rotation of most milling machines.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide end mill replacement for standard 1 inch shank toolholders, collet chucks, and end mill holders used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. Part of the OSG Series 464 long-length end mill family.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the recommended engagement depth before torquing the set screw or drawbar to the toolholder specification. Inspect the collet or holder bore for runout before use, as excessive runout accelerates tool wear and degrades surface finish on solid carbide end mills.
