The OSG 462-7500 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. Part of OSG's Series 462 long-length line, it features a 3/4 inch cutting diameter, a 2-1/4 inch length of cut, and a 5 inch overall length, making it well suited for reaching deeper pockets and cavities that standard-length end mills cannot access. The two-flute design promotes efficient chip evacuation in a wide range of materials. The 30-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry support stable cutting action at moderate to high feeds. Micrograin carbide construction delivers wear resistance and edge retention across extended runs. The uncoated finish is typical for general-purpose applications or use with cutting fluids.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers, manual knee mills, and toolroom environments for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling. The long-length geometry suits deep-pocket work, extended-reach setups, and applications where a standard end mill lacks sufficient flute length. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry into the workpiece without a pre-drilled starting hole. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the standard orientation for conventional spindle-direction milling setups.

Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians using an appropriate collet chuck, end mill holder, or Weldon-style side-lock holder sized for a 3/4 inch shank. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in an e-stop or tool-change state before inserting or removing any cutting tool. Verify runout at the tool holder before cutting to avoid premature edge wear or chatter. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling supplier recommendations for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut based on workpiece material.
