The OSG 46023 is a round threading die designed to cut external metric threads on iron and steel workpieces. Manufactured from high-speed steel, this die produces M3x0.5 metric coarse threads with a right-hand thread direction. The 20 mm outside diameter and 7 mm thickness fit standard round die stocks sized for this OD. An adjustable design allows the operator to fine-tune thread fit by opening or closing the die slightly via the stock set screws. Licensed machinists, tool and die makers, and experienced maintenance mechanics are the primary users of this tooling.
This die is suited for threading small-diameter fasteners, studs, and repair work on metric-threaded components in production and maintenance applications. The M3x0.5 thread size is common in precision assemblies, electronics hardware, and light mechanical equipment. The high-speed steel construction handles both hand-driven and machine-assisted threading operations on iron and steel base materials. Series 135 identifies the die within the OSG product family for stocking and reorder purposes.
Designed for use on iron and steel workpieces requiring M3x0.5 metric coarse external threads. Fits round die stocks with a 20 mm bore diameter.
Round threading dies are installed and driven by a matching round die stock. Secure the die firmly in the stock before use and verify the adjusting screw engages the die relief slot. Apply cutting oil to the workpiece before threading to extend die life and improve thread quality. Follow applicable shop safety practices and wear appropriate eye protection during all threading operations.
