The OSG 457103311 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance milling in demanding materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It features a 3 mm cutting diameter with a 0.5 mm corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life in aggressive applications. The 4-flute, right-hand helical geometry with a high-helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation. A WXS PVD coating adds thermal and wear resistance. This tool is used in CNC machining centers across general manufacturing, aerospace, and die-mold environments and is installed by machinists and tooling technicians.
This end mill is suited for both roughing and finishing operations on steel and difficult-to-machine alloys. The extended-reach neck geometry with a 15 mm reach length and 2.85 mm neck diameter allows access to deeper cavity features while maintaining rigidity. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard toolholders and collet chucks. Normal pitch flute spacing provides stable engagement across a range of cutting conditions. The single-end, centercutting design supports plunge entry and slot milling without a separate center-cutting operation.
Designed for use with standard straight-bore toolholders and collet chucks accepting a 6 mm shank diameter. Primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, S, and H cover steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys and titanium, and hard materials per ISO material classification.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine in an e-stop or locked-out state per facility lockout-tagout procedures. Verify the toolholder bore and collet size match the 6 mm shank before clamping, and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after clamping, as excessive runout accelerates wear on small-diameter carbide tools. Follow the cutting tool manufacturer recommended speeds and feeds for the specific workpiece material and do not exceed the tool length-of-cut depth in a single pass without appropriate feed adjustment.
