The OSG 4561208 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a TiCN coating, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention when cutting ferrous and tough alloy materials. The 3/4-inch diameter tool features 4 flutes with a fine pitch and a 30-degree maximum helix angle, producing a shearing action that reduces chatter and load per tooth. At 0.75 inches length of cut and 2.785 inches overall length, this end mill is suited for short-reach roughing passes in vertical mills, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users.
This end mill is used in production and job-shop environments where rapid stock removal from steel, stainless, and high-temperature alloys is required. The fine-pitch flute geometry distributes cutting forces evenly, making it appropriate for both conventional and climb milling in moderate-to-heavy chip-load operations. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for the majority of vertical milling setups. The center-cutting design allows plunge entry, giving operators flexibility in pocket and slot milling operations without a pre-drilled entry hole.
Designed as a standard 3/4-inch shank roughing end mill compatible with collet chucks, end mill holders, and milling machine spindles accepting 3/4-inch straight-shank tooling.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Secure the shank in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque to the machine manufacturer's specification before engaging the spindle. Inspect the tool holder and collet bore for chips or wear before mounting. Follow applicable shop safety protocols and machine guarding requirements during setup and operation.
