The OSG 4559411 is a 4-flute cobalt square end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) coating that extends tool life by improving heat and wear resistance at the cutting edge. The 5/16 inch cutting diameter and 3/4 inch length of cut make it well suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in tight geometries. The 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. This end mill is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators working with manual mills, VMCs, and CNC machining centers.
This end mill is appropriate for general-purpose milling applications including side milling, full slotting, and contour work on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials. The fine pitch configuration, right-hand cut, and right-hand flute geometry are standard for the majority of milling setups in job shop and production environments. The 3/8 inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks and end mill holders commonly used in both manual and CNC platforms. The OSG Series 455 designation identifies it within a family of cobalt-based solid end mills engineered for regular-length reach applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid end mill for standard 3/8 inch end mill holders and ER collet chuck systems used in CNC machining centers and manual vertical mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator familiar with tool holding systems and safe machine practices. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Secure the shank to the minimum recommended engagement depth in the tool holder per the tool holder manufacturer guidelines. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut.
