The OSG 4551408 is a corner chamfer end mill designed for precision chamfering and edge-breaking operations on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. Built from cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating, this tool delivers improved wear resistance and heat tolerance compared to uncoated HSS tooling. It runs 0.75 inches in cutting diameter with a 2.25-inch length of cut and a 4-flute geometry that supports fine-pitch chip evacuation in center-cutting applications. The 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth cutting action and reduced chatter. Machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments use this end mill for chamfering drilled holes, deburring edges, and preparing mating surfaces.
The OSG 4551408 is suited for use on vertical machining centers, knee mills, and CNC milling machines where controlled chamfer geometry is required. Its center-cutting capability allows plunge entry when needed. The 3/4-inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks and side-lock holders commonly found in production and prototype machining environments. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction make this a conventional-rotation tool compatible with standard spindle setups.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for 3/4-inch straight-shank end mill holders, ER collet chucks, and side-lock tool holders used in conventional and CNC milling applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard toolholding procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Confirm holder bore size matches the 3/4-inch shank diameter and that tool runout is within acceptable tolerances before beginning a cut. Always verify feed rate, spindle speed, and depth of cut against published speeds-and-feeds data for cobalt end mills before engaging the workpiece.
