The OSG 4550108 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride), it delivers strong wear resistance and heat tolerance during heavy cuts. The 1/2 inch diameter tool features 4 flutes with a fine pitch profile, a 1.25 inch length of cut, and a 3.25 inch overall length. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction make it a standard configuration for conventional and climb milling on CNC and manual machining centers. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in production and job shop environments.

This roughing end mill is suited for ferrous metals and other materials where high material removal rates are the priority. The fine pitch, 4-flute design produces a smoother finish than coarse-pitch rippers while still breaking chips efficiently. The TiCN coating adds surface hardness and reduces friction, extending tool life in moderate to heavy-duty cuts. The 1/2 inch shank matches the cutter diameter, fitting standard 1/2 inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and milling machine spindles. It does not center-cut, so plunge milling is not recommended with this tool.

Installation Notes

Because this end mill is not center-cutting, avoid direct plunge entry into solid material — use a pre-drilled hole or a ramping or helical interpolation entry path.
