The OSG 44450002 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding shop environments. It features a 3/16 inch cutting diameter, a 0.01 inch corner radius, and four right-hand helical flutes with a high helix angle of 45 degrees. The cutting edge is finished with a WXL PVD coating, which extends tool life when working in abrasive or hard materials. With a 1/2 inch length of cut and a 2.5 inch overall length, this tool fits standard toolholders with a 1/4 inch straight cylindrical shank. It is centercutting and suitable for both roughing and finishing operations. Machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops and production environments are the primary users.
This end mill is built for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Its corner radius geometry reduces chipping at the cutting edge and improves surface finish on profiled features. The regular length classification and straight shank make it compatible with collet chucks and end mill holders used in vertical machining centers and CNC mills. It is a single-end tool in the OSG 4445 series and is suited for slotting, peripheral milling, and light to moderate material removal where edge integrity is critical.
Designed for use with standard collet chuck and end mill holder toolholders accepting a 1/4 inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for vertical machining centers and CNC mills running steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metal, superalloys, titanium, and hard material workpieces.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully in the toolholder to the recommended gauge depth and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear on carbide tooling.
