The OSG 414-4375-BN is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations across a broad range of workpiece materials. With a 0.4375-inch (7/16 inch) mill diameter, a 0.625-inch length of cut, and a 4-flute helical configuration, this tool delivers consistent material removal in both roughing and finishing passes. The micrograin carbide substrate supports sharp edge retention and dimensional accuracy. The 30-degree medium helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining surface finish quality. It runs single-end, right-hand cut, with a straight-cylindrical shank, and is part of OSG's 414BN series. This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The uncoated bright finish makes it a straightforward choice for shops that prefer to apply their own coatings or work with materials where coated tooling is unnecessary. At 2.5 inches overall length with a 0.4375-inch shank diameter matching the cutter diameter, it fits standard collet and end mill holder setups without the need for specialty tooling adapters. Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered off and the spindle fully stopped. Ensure the collet or end mill holder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank, and torque the retention hardware to the machine or toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping before beginning any cut. Follow applicable shop safety protocols and machine manufacturer guidelines for speeds and feeds based on workpiece material and depth of cut.
