The OSG 414-2500-BN is a solid carbide ball end mill engineered for precision milling in a wide range of metalworking applications. Built on OSG Series 414BN, this single-end tool features a 0.25 inch mill diameter, a 0.5 inch length of cut, and a 4-flute helical configuration with a 30-degree helix angle. The micrograin carbide construction delivers the rigidity and edge retention needed for both roughing and finishing passes. The bright, uncoated finish makes this tool well suited for applications where coating-related built-up edge is a concern. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on CNC mills and machining centers are the primary installers of this tool.
This ball end mill is rated for use across multiple workpiece material categories, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Its standard length profile and straight-cylindrical shank make it compatible with conventional collet and end mill holders. The 0.125 inch nose radius geometry enables contoured surface work, 3D profiling, and radius-bottom slot milling. It is suitable for both prototype and production environments where consistent dimensional accuracy is required.
Rated for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, N, S, H). Fits any machine spindle or toolholder accepting a 0.25 inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by machinists and CNC operators using a calibrated collet chuck or end mill holder torqued per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify spindle runout before seating the tool, as excessive runout accelerates carbide edge wear. Ensure the machine is fully powered down and the spindle is locked before changing tools. Follow your shop safety plan and applicable OSHA machining standards during tool changes.
