The OSG 414-1772 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. It features a 0.1772 inch cutting diameter with a 0.3543 inch length of cut and a 4-flute spiral geometry at a 30-degree helix angle. The micrograin carbide construction delivers rigidity and edge retention in demanding cutting conditions. Classified as a stub-length tool, it offers increased stiffness compared to standard-length end mills. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC tooling professionals on milling machines and machining centers.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a small-diameter, tight-tolerance tool is required. The centercutting capability allows for plunge entry into the workpiece. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional CNC milling setups. The uncoated finish is appropriate for applications where coating is not required or where post-coating regrind is preferred. Typical use cases include precision die and mold work, component finishing, and secondary operations on close-tolerance parts.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling selection for CNC milling machines and manual mills accepting a 5.00 mm shank diameter, within the OSG Series 414 stub-length square end mill family.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Secure the shank in a collet or end mill holder rated for the 5.00 mm shank diameter and torque the retention mechanism per the machine tool manufacturer specifications. Verify spindle runout before use, as excessive runout on small-diameter end mills accelerates tool wear and risks breakage. Do not exceed recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material and tool diameter.
