The OSG 412-0781 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. With a 0.0781 inch (5/64 inch) cutting diameter and a 0.1563 inch (5/32 inch) length of cut, this stub-length tool is built for rigidity in tight setups where deflection must be minimized. The 1/8 inch shank diameter and 1.5 inch overall length keep the tool compact. Two right-hand spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle promote chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Micrograin solid carbide construction delivers hardness and wear resistance suited to ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers, manual knee mills, and toolroom applications where small-diameter precision work is required. The stub length profile reduces overhang and improves rigidity when milling slots, pockets, and profiles in materials such as aluminum, brass, steel, and engineering plastics. It is typically installed and used by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and precision fabricators working with small-scale or detailed features.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill in the OSG Series 412 stub-length line, compatible with any machine tool spindle accepting a 1/8 inch straight shank tool holder or collet.
This tool is installed by machinists using a collet chuck or end mill holder sized for a 1/8 inch shank. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the tool. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on small-diameter carbide tooling. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed and feed rate selection.
