The OSG 4110001211 is a helical flute thread mill designed for cutting M20x1.5 metric fine internal threads in machining centers and CNC mills. Built from solid carbide and finished with OSG EXO coating, this tool delivers wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding threading operations. It features a 16 mm shank diameter, 16 mm cutting diameter, and a 31.50 mm length of cut. With 4 right-hand helical flutes and a 105 mm overall length, it is suited for threading operations where a single-pass or multi-pass helical interpolation path is required. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shop, aerospace, or industrial manufacturing environments are the primary users.
This thread mill is used for generating M20x1.5 metric fine threads in a range of workpiece materials, including steels, aluminum alloys, and similar machinable metals where solid carbide tooling is appropriate. The helical flute geometry supports chip evacuation during the threading pass. It fits standard 16 mm toolholders such as ER collet chucks or hydraulic chucks, making it compatible with most 3-axis and 4-axis CNC machining centers used in production and prototype threading applications.
Designed as a metric fine thread mill for use in CNC machining centers with helical interpolation capability; compatible with standard 16 mm bore toolholders including ER collet chucks and hydraulic chucks.
Thread milling requires a CNC control capable of helical interpolation; confirm the machine program is configured for the correct thread direction, pitch, and interpolation radius before running the tool. Secure the shank fully in a balanced, low-runout toolholder and verify runout is within acceptable limits before cutting, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and degrades thread quality. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or coating damage before each use. Follow standard shop safety practices including machine guarding and appropriate PPE when handling carbide tooling.
