The OSG 4105200 is a cobalt steel square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a 0.5 inch cutting diameter, a 0.5 inch length of cut, and a 3-flute geometry with a 25-degree helix angle. The stub-length configuration provides added rigidity, reducing deflection during heavy cuts. The single-end, centercutting design allows for both peripheral and plunge milling. This tool ships uncoated and is suited for machinists and tool-and-die professionals running manual mills or CNC machining centers.
This end mill is a fit for stub-length applications where a short overall length of 2.5 inches is needed for stiffness and accuracy. The 0.5 inch shank diameter matches standard ER collets and end mill holders common in production and job-shop environments. Its coarse-pitch, right-hand cut with right-hand flute geometry is well suited for conventional and climb milling in steel, cast iron, and similar materials. The uncoated cobalt construction makes it a practical choice when regrinding or reconditioning tooling is part of standard shop practice.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard 0.5 inch shank square end mills in ER collet chucks and straight-bore end mill holders used on vertical machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the full depth of the collet or holder and torque the retention nut to the tool-holder specification. Inspect the tool for runout with a dial indicator before committing to a production cut.
