The OSG 4100002111 is a solid carbide helical flute thread mill designed for cutting internal 5/8-18 UNF threads in a single helical pass. With a 0.495 inch cutting diameter and a 0.972 inch length of cut, this tool generates accurate unified fine threads in ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. The EXO TiAlN coating provides thermal and wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures, extending tool life in production and job shop environments. Four right-hand flutes deliver consistent chip evacuation and surface finish. Machinists and CNC programmers specify this tool when thread milling is preferred over tapping for blind holes, hard materials, or close-tolerance applications.
This thread mill is suited for CNC machining centers performing internal thread milling operations on precision components. The 1/2 inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks and milling tool holders commonly used in vertical and horizontal machining centers. With a 4.0 inch overall length, the tool provides reach for moderate-depth applications while maintaining rigidity. It is appropriate for job shops, aerospace, hydraulic component, and general precision machining work requiring UNF thread forms.
Designed for CNC machining centers equipped with standard 1/2 inch collet or milling tool holders; cuts 5/8-18 UNF internal thread forms per the Unified National Fine thread standard.
This tool is installed and operated by machinists or CNC programmers on CNC milling equipment. Secure the shank fully in a properly torqued collet or end mill holder before use. Program a helical interpolation cycle matched to the 5/8-18 UNF thread pitch; verify the canned cycle parameters and tool offset before cutting the first part. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each production run and replace the tool at the first sign of edge deterioration to avoid thread form deviation.
