The OSG 404-7500-BN08 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling of contoured surfaces, slots, and complex 3D profiles in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from micrograin carbide stock, this single-end tool features a 0.75-inch cutting diameter with a 1.5-inch length of cut and a 4-inch overall length. The TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating increases surface hardness and reduces friction at the cutting edge, extending tool life in high-speed applications. Four spiral flutes with a 30-degree right-hand helix promote efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting geometry. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production environments are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for finish and semi-finish milling passes on dies, molds, and machined components requiring ball-nose geometry. The 3/4-inch shank diameter mounts directly into standard end mill holders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit toolholders. The regular-length profile keeps the tool rigid in typical vertical machining center setups. Right-hand cutting direction follows conventional milling practice. The TiCN coating makes this tool particularly effective in cast iron, hardened steels, and stainless alloys where heat and abrasion at the tip are primary wear factors.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production tool in the OSG 404BN series, compatible with 3/4-inch end mill holders, ER collet chucks, and shrink-fit tooling systems used in CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer torque and runout specifications for the holder type in use. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing the tool. Check radial runout at the shank with a dial indicator before the first cut to confirm proper seating in the toolholder. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer recommended cutting parameters for depth of cut and feed rate for the workpiece material.
