The OSG 404-625008 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. It features a 5/8-inch mill diameter with a 1-1/4-inch length of cut and a 3-1/2-inch overall length. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. A TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating increases surface hardness and reduces friction, extending tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The micrograin carbide substrate provides toughness and wear resistance suited for demanding production environments. Centercutting geometry allows this end mill to plunge directly into a workpiece.
This end mill is suited for milling, slotting, profiling, and contouring operations on machining centers and manual mills. The regular-length profile fits standard toolholding systems in job shops, production facilities, and tool-and-die operations. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional CNC milling setups. The 5/8-inch shank diameter matches common collet and end mill holder sizes used across vertical and horizontal machining centers. This series is appropriate for machinists and CNC operators working with steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide end mill compatible with standard 5/8-inch collets, end mill holders, and hydraulic toolholders used on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator following the machine tool manufacturer's toolholding torque and runout specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the end mill. Confirm shank engagement depth meets toolholder minimums to prevent pull-out under cutting loads. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or wear before each use.
