The OSG 404-5625 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. Built from micrograin carbide, it delivers a rigid cutting edge suited to high-tolerance work in steel, aluminum, and similar machinable materials. The 4-flute configuration balances chip evacuation with surface finish quality, while the 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth cutting action and reduced vibration. With a 9/16 inch cutting diameter and 1-1/8 inch length of cut, this tool handles slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in a single-end, centercutting configuration. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators on vertical mills and machining centers.
This end mill fits applications where a standard-reach, right-hand cut tool is required. The 9/16 inch shank diameter matches the cutter diameter, allowing direct chuck or collet mounting without a reduction bushing. The 3-1/2 inch overall length keeps the tool compact for general-purpose work, reducing deflection in typical cavity and contour milling scenarios. The uncoated finish makes it suitable for use in both dry and lubricated cutting environments, depending on workpiece material and shop practice.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use tool for standard 9/16 inch collet or chuck systems on vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers requiring a 4-flute square end mill in the OSG Series 404.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool-change procedure completed before mounting or removing the end mill. Secure the shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder to the torque specification listed by the toolholder manufacturer. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, and confirm runout with a dial indicator when tolerance work is involved.
