The OSG 404-3150 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. With a 0.315 inch (8.00 mm) mill diameter and a 0.8268 inch (21.00 mm) length of cut, this four-flute tool delivers efficient material removal with a right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute geometry. The 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and stable cutting action. Manufactured from micrograin carbide, the 404-3150 provides the hardness and edge retention required for demanding milling work on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry into the workpiece.
This end mill is suited for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills in job shop, production, and toolroom environments. It handles slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling tasks where tight tolerances are required. The regular-length configuration fits standard toolholders and collet chucks with an 8.00 mm (0.315 inch) shank diameter, making it a straightforward fit in most setups. Machinists and CNC operators working in aerospace, mold and die, and general precision machining will find the Series 404 geometry well-suited to their requirements.
Designed for use with standard ER and straight-bore collet chucks or end mill holders accepting an 8.00 mm shank diameter. Part of the OSG Series 404 regular-length square end mill family.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator following the machine tool manufacturer's toolholding guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Use a calibrated torque wrench when tightening collet nuts to the holder manufacturer's specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after seating to minimize tool deflection and extend tool life.
