The OSG 404-3125-BN is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations across a wide range of workpiece materials. With a 0.3125-inch mill diameter, 0.8125-inch length of cut, and a 4-flute helical geometry at a 30-degree helix angle, this tool delivers reliable performance on both roughing and finishing passes. The micrograin carbide construction provides the hardness and wear resistance required for consistent tolerancing at production volumes. The bright uncoated finish suits applications where coating interaction with the workpiece is a concern. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals will find this end mill well suited to general-purpose CNC and manual milling work.
The 404-3125-BN belongs to OSG Series 404BN, a standard carbide end mill lineup built to consistent quality tolerances. It is suited for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collet and end mill holders. With a 2.5-inch overall length and standard length classification, this tool fits typical milling setups without requiring extended-reach tooling. It is a single-end tool intended for right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction.
Rated for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metal, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per ISO material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H. Fits standard 5/16-inch collets and end mill holders with a straight-cylindrical shank interface.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians using a properly sized collet or end mill holder torqued to the machine spindle specification. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and locked out before changing tooling. Confirm runout at the tool tip with a dial indicator before beginning a production run, as excessive runout accelerates wear and degrades surface finish. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rate for the workpiece material and machine rigidity.
