The OSG 404-1378 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. With a 0.1378-inch (3.50 mm) cutting diameter and a 0.4724-inch (12.00 mm) length of cut, this tool handles slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in tight-tolerance work. The four-flute, right-hand spiral design with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting performance. Micrograin carbide construction provides the hardness and wear resistance needed for ferrous and non-ferrous materials. This end mill is centercutting, allowing plunge entry. It is intended for use by machinists and toolroom professionals in CNC and manual milling operations.
The OSG 404-1378 is suited for general-purpose milling in regular-length reach applications. The 0.1378-inch diameter makes it well-matched for small-feature work such as narrow slots, pockets, and contour passes on precision components. The 4.00 mm shank diameter and 51.00 mm overall length fit standard collet and end mill holders used in vertical and horizontal milling setups. Uncoated micrograin carbide is appropriate for dry cutting or use with cutting fluid on aluminum, brass, steel, and similar materials in production and prototype environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 4.00 mm shank end mill in a collet or end mill holder. Part of the OSG Series 404 regular-length solid carbide end mill line.
Install and remove end mills only with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable machine safety procedures. Seat the shank fully in the collet or holder to the recommended engagement depth before torquing the retention nut with the appropriate spanner or collet wrench. Inspect the cutting edges and shank for chips or runout before initiating a cut. Handle carbide tooling with care to avoid edge chipping during storage and changeover.
